How's It Hanginnnn,
So, that storm, Tropical Storm Nicole, pretty much just walked right past Florida. We got like 1/4 inch of rain, that's about it. It's upsetting because the nice cool weather turned into disgusting humidity.
On another note, RIM (Research In Motion), announced the BlackBerry PlayBook. What they call the first "Professional Tablet," on the market. It's going to feature a 7" LCD display, capable of resolutions up to 1024x600, a 1ghz Dual Core processor, 1gb of RAM, and a 3MP front-facing camera for video conferencing, and a 5MP rear facing camera for pictures. Other features will include the new OS made by QNX, a company RIM purchased earlier. It's webkit browser supports full 10.1 flash, and it will also have a MicroUSB and MicroHDMI out.
All in all it seems like a great, wonderful, powerful tablet, probably the best that's been announced. Unfortunately, we have no release date, no price, and no talk on one of the most important things, battery life. With a dual core processor you can only imagine that the battery would be draining faster than it's competitors, but would it be worth it for the extra power? Would you still prefer an iPad, if so, why? Just because it's an Apple product?

ipad was a complete joke so i guess it wouldnt be that hard to outdo it :)
ReplyDeletelooking forward for this :)
ReplyDeletePlayBook :: Storm = iPad :: iPod Touch
ReplyDeleteNot remotely a new idea! I still might want one tho haha
Well, I want one just because is BlackBerry =)
ReplyDeleteI think its nice, but no $ for it :P
ReplyDelete1 gHz in that small thingy? Nice. I wish I could play some games on that :D
ReplyDeletewow that looks insane, i think i might actaully get one..thanks to your blog! haha thanks bro
ReplyDeleteI have no place in my life for a tablet.
ReplyDeleteiPad wasn't great to be fair
ReplyDeleteiPad = no Flash.
ReplyDeleteFlash is huge and not having it native was a silly move on their part.
Tbh I don't really see the use of a tablet. It's just a novelty now, and with the marketing strategies of apple it's the 'next big thing everyone has to have'.
ReplyDeleteI saw someone yesterday on the train with an IPad, in a nice holder... and all she did was listening to music with it... I raged so hard
It kind of looks like a giant iPhone
ReplyDeleteCopy Apple, profit.
ReplyDeleteIt kinda looks like I'll have to replace my Ipad. Dang
ReplyDelete@Breuglmans_b - Well, it's useful for businesses that have BES (Blackberry Enterprise Servers), which at the DevCon announcement they said there were over 250,000 of (BES's). Since it can sync with your BES and gather all the data from it in a secure encrypted fashion just like BlackBerrys can, I personally think that it would be useful (with it's HDMI out) for presentations and what not. It has a great processor and 1 whole gig of RAM, it could handle even the most graphically integrated presentations.
ReplyDelete@Mikoten - It's not copying apple, tablets have existed for ages, but in the shape of the convertible computer tablets that slide around and close. Apple just went a different route. Like everything, Apple releases something earlier than everyone else, and then a little while later other companies release the same product except it's just a better one. They all work on it, Apple just works faster.
Thanks for reading guys, I love you!
god. i pity everyone who has bought an ipad. apple is a market monster... the new pads are going to be 10x better...
ReplyDeletethese units are HOT right now
ReplyDeleteI doubt it will compete with apple, they are dominating the market
ReplyDeletea lot cheaper=my vote
ReplyDeleteI hate all apple products and wouldn;t in a million years purchase one. i'd go for blackebrry here
ReplyDeleteI knew this was coming.
ReplyDelete@ Mr. Delivery -
ReplyDeleteApple may be dominating the market in tablets, but it's because no other ones really stood up to the iPad until the Galaxy Tab and PlayBook were released. Both Samsung and RIM are huge companies able to compete with Apple, unlike Archos. RIM is still the leading smartphone provider worldwide, and I think if they keep on this track they might stay that way. Once RIM shows that they can do more than a Business type smartphone, and show ways that can integrate all their technology, I think they'll be a huge hit.
That's pretty. Think I'll start saving for it now :)
ReplyDeletethe iPad is just a bigger iPod Touch.
ReplyDeletei like apple computers, but i hate apple fanboys.
apple iphone... kill it with fire!
